UQ is reviewing its policies and procedures to make sure they are high quality and needs-based.

Some new policies have been developed and a number of existing policies have been either deleted, demoted, consolidated or revised.

Recent major changes to UQ's policies and procedures are outlined below and will be listed here as they are approved and published.

13 May, 2019 Information and Communication Technology Policy (PPL 6.20.01) New policy outlining UQ's commitment to providing information and communication technology (ICT) resources to support, enable and enhance its activities. The new policy outlines acceptable use of UQ's ICT resources, supports UQ through effective provisioning and management of ICT resources, and seeks to protect UQ's reputation and safeguard its resources. The policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 13 May 2019. 
16 October, 2019 Information and Communication Technology Procedure (PPL 6.20.01b) New procedure outlining the requirements for accessing and using UQ’s ICT systems, software and other resources. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
16 October, 2019 Software Asset Management Procedure (PPL 6.20.01b2) New procedure outlining the requirements for software access and management at UQ. The procedure supports UQ software strategy, funding and sourcing decisions, and enables UQ to monitor software compliance and proactively prepare for software audits. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
16 October, 2019 Email and Bulk Messaging Procedure (PPL 6.20.01b3) New procedure outlining requirements for using UQ email accounts and sending messages to large groups of UQ staff and students via email, SMS or other ICT systems. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
13 May, 2019 Cyber Security Policy (PPL 6.30.01) New policy establishing UQ's cyber security risk management responsibilities, based on the principle that cyber security is everyone's business. The policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 13 May 2019.
16 October, 2019 Cyber Security Exceptions Procedure (PPL 6.30.01b) New procedure outlining the process to manage exceptions to UQ’s cyber security standards to mitigate risk and satisfy business requirements at UQ. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
13 May, 2019 Information Management Policy (PPL 6.40.01) New policy outlining expectations and requirements for the governance and management of information at UQ. The new policy is intended to enable UQ to improve the integration and accuracy of its information, improve compliance and reduce risks associated with potential loss or misuse of information, among others. The policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 13 May 2019. 
17 May, 2019 Access to UQ Documents Procedure (PPL 6.40.01b) New procedure outlining the process for accessing documents held by UQ in accordance with its legislative obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009. The procedure was approved by the Director, Governance and Risk on 17 May 2019.
16 October, 2019 Information Security Classification Procedure (PPL 6.40.01b2) New procedure outlining the security classification requirements for information in both digital and physical format at UQ. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
16 October, 2019 Destruction of Records Procedure (PPL 6.40.01b3) New procedure outlining the appropriate criteria and procedures for the destruction of records at UQ, including the process for transitioning physical source records into an approved digital format. The procedure was approved by the Chief Information Officer on 16 October 2019.
1 September, 2019 Conflict of Interest - Policy (PPL 1.50.11a) Revised policy following a comprehensive review of UQ’s conflict of interest framework and controls. The revised policy establishes best practice principles for the effective identification, disclosure and management of conflicts of interest. The policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 1 September 2019.
27 August, 2019 Conflict of Interest for Members of Staff - Procedures (PPL 1.50.11b) Revised procedure to support the Conflict of Interest Policy, outlining the processes for UQ staff in identifying, disclosing and managing conflicts of interest at UQ. The procedure was approved by the Provost on 27 August 2019.
27 August, 2019 Commercialisation Conflicts of Interest - Procedures (PPL 1.50.11b3) New procedure to support the Conflict of Interest Policy. The procedure outlines the processes for identifying, disclosing and managing commercialisation financial conflicts of interest that may arise as UQ staff seek to commercialise their research. The procedure was approved by the Provost on 27 August 2019.
29 August, 2019 Contracts Research and Grants Financial Management - Procedures (PPL 9.30.03b1) New procedure outlining the requirements at UQ for the effective financial management of research funding. The procedure was approved by the Chief Financial Officer on 29 August 2019.
18 July, 2019 Journal Entries - Procedures (PPL 9.15.04b) New procedure to strengthen documented controls for the processing and approving of journal entries in UQ's financial system.  This policy was approved by the Chief Financial Officer and commenced on 18 July 2019.
5 July, 2019 Program Design - Policy (PPL 3.20.08a) New policy to enable standardisation of degree program design, and deliver an improved student experience across the lifespan of students' time at UQ.  This policy was approved by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and commenced on 5 July 2019.
