UQ is reviewing its policies and procedures to make sure they are high quality and needs-based.

Some new policies have been developed and a number of existing policies have been either deleted, demoted, consolidated or revised.

Recent major changes to UQ's policies and procedures are outlined below and will be listed here as they are approved and published.

1 September, 2019 Conflict of Interest - Policy (PPL 1.50.11a) Revised policy following a comprehensive review of UQ’s conflict of interest framework and controls. The revised policy establishes best practice principles for the effective identification, disclosure and management of conflicts of interest. The policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 1 September 2019.
27 August, 2019 Conflict of Interest for Members of Staff - Procedures (PPL 1.50.11b) Revised procedure to support the Conflict of Interest Policy, outlining the processes for UQ staff in identifying, disclosing and managing conflicts of interest at UQ. The procedure was approved by the Provost on 27 August 2019.
27 August, 2019 Commercialisation Conflicts of Interest - Procedures (PPL 1.50.11b3) New procedure to support the Conflict of Interest Policy. The procedure outlines the processes for identifying, disclosing and managing commercialisation financial conflicts of interest that may arise as UQ staff seek to commercialise their research. The procedure was approved by the Provost on 27 August 2019.
29 August, 2019 Contracts Research and Grants Financial Management - Procedures (PPL 9.30.03b1) New procedure outlining the requirements at UQ for the effective financial management of research funding. The procedure was approved by the Chief Financial Officer on 29 August 2019.
18 July, 2019 Journal Entries - Procedures (PPL 9.15.04b) New procedure to strengthen documented controls for the processing and approving of journal entries in UQ's financial system.  This policy was approved by the Chief Financial Officer and commenced on 18 July 2019.
5 July, 2019 Program Design - Policy (PPL 3.20.08a) New policy to enable standardisation of degree program design, and deliver an improved student experience across the lifespan of students' time at UQ.  This policy was approved by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and commenced on 5 July 2019.
5 July, 2019 Course Design - Policy (PPL 3.20.07a) New policy to enable standardisation of degree program design, and deliver an improved student experience across the lifespan of students' time at UQ.  This policy was approved by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and commenced on 5 July 2019.
24 April, 2019 Alcohol and Other Drugs - Policy (PPL 2.60.01a) New policy to outline UQ’s commitment to preventing and reducing harm caused by unlawful and irresponsible use of alcohol and other drugs while undertaking UQ related activity.  This policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President and commenced on 24 April 2019.
24 April, 2019 Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation - Policy (PPL 2.25.01a) Revised policy, outlining UQ’s obligations as a self-insurer and employer under the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014.  This policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President and commenced on 24 April 2019.
25 March, 2019 Responsible Conduct of Research - Policy (PPL 4.20.02a)

This revised policy is an overarching set of principles and responsibilities on the researcher and the University for the responsible conduct of research.  Adoption of these principles is in line with the Australian Guide for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2018. This policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President and commenced on 25 March 2019.

22 March, 2019 Managing Complaints about the Conduct of Research - Procedures (PPL 4.20.02b) Revised procedure to describe the processes for managing complaints about the responsible conduct of research, and assessing, investigating and reporting potential breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2018.  This procedure was approved by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and commenced on 22 March 2019.
15 March, 2019 Naming - Policy (PPL 8.15.01a)

Revised policy to guide UQ in naming infrastructure, staff positions, scholarships and programs through the bestowal of an honour name in recognition of highly distinguished service or significant philanthropic contribution. This policy was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President and commenced on 15 March 2019.
