Organisational Structures in University Systems
The University is organised into academic, academic service and administrative units that are based on identifiable areas of mutual interest or activities. Each unit is accountable to a Designated Officer, through an appointed leader.
The UQ Org Database facilitates the sharing, management, and reporting of organisational data in University systems, for reportable entities within the University. This system provides UniFi with Travel Approvers and reflects changes onto the UQ Departments Website providing and overview of each unit within the University structure.
To ensure the integrity of the data in the University’s organisational structure and its reporting in University systems, protocols define the processes for the approval and management of the data. These protocols are defined in the Supervisory Organisational Structure Policy and the forms listed below.
Please contact Enterprise Governance on governance@uq.edu.au if you have any questions at all.
Processing Changes in the UQ Org Database
Significant/Structural Changes
A major change is any change made to a new or existing organisation unit that changes its position in the University's Organisational Structure. It also includes changes to the Org unit’s title.
These are categorised as:
- changes to Org unit title
- the establishment of a new Org unit
- changes to the structure for existing org units
- the disestablishment (removal) of an Org unit from the UQ Org database
The Approval Authority for these changes vary based on the Unit type. Please contact governance@uq.edu.au to request a copy of the current Approval Authority Document.
Administrative Changes
An Administrative change is any change made to an existing Organisational Unit that does not change its title or position in the University's Organisational Structure.
These are categorised as a change to:
- contact details
- leadership updates
- other minor changes
Approval from the Unit Leader or Senior Officer is sufficient for these changes to be processed.
