In accordance with the Senate and Academic Board Elections Policy, the University is pleased to announce that the following people have been elected to the Academic Board:

Academic staff members (employed by the University at Level D or E) (for a 3-year term commencing 1 January 2026)

Overview of elections

Academic Board elections are an important opportunity to contribute to UQ. Eligible members of the UQ community are encouraged to participate in this process.

The election will run in accordance with the Senate and Academic Board Elections Policy and the the Academic Board Policy, with the election process managed through UQ’s election software.

The first stage of the process will be nominations for the following member positions.

  • 6 academic staff (employed by the University at Level D or E) (for a 3-year term)
  • 7 academic staff (employed under a contract of employment with a term of 12 months or more requiring at least 18 hours of work each week at Levels A to C) (for a 3-year term)
  • 3 undergraduate students (for a one-year term)
  • 1 postgraduate coursework student (for a one-year term)
  • 1 postgraduate research student (for a one-year term).

Role of Academic Board

The Academic Board is the University’s senior academic advisory body and is established under the University of Queensland Act 1998.

The Board advises Senate and the Vice-Chancellor on all matters relating to, and affecting, the University’s teaching, research and educational programs.

Eligibility criteria

Clause 10 of the Academic Board Policy determines who is eligible to nominate and vote in the election.

If a person is a member of more than one class, they can only nominate for election in one class, but they can vote in all the classes they belong to.
